Poggio il Castellare ligger ved landsbyen Castelnuovo Abate få kilometer syd for Montalcino by midt i Toscanas smukke hjerte. Navnet ”
Tenuta Poggio il Castellare” kan oversættes til ”Borgruinen på den lille Castellare bakke” og områdets historie går helt tilbage til etruskerne. Ejendommen ejes i dag af familien Baroncini med Bruna Baroncini i spidsen. Bruna ejer ejendomme flere steder i Toscana, bl.a. Il Fagetto ved Montepulciano og Fattoria Queriarossa (den røde eg) i Magliano in Toscana.
