James Suckling (94 points):
"A wildly spicy, fragrant Eden Valley shiraz that has a wealth of sweet, aromatic red fruits; dark, stony notes; iodine; kelp; plenty of pepper and a meaty, youthful thread. The palate is crisp, juicy and dense. Really even, long and showing plenty of depth, lightness and balance. Drink in 2018."
James Halliday (94 points):
"The grapes come from 3 rows of old-vine shiraz near Angaston; one-third was destemmed, two-thirds whole bunches, fermented over a 3-week period with daily pigeage; spent 2 years in thick-staved demi-muids (two-thirds new). This wine stands at the pinnacle of the Head portfolio, but it needs time for the generous helping of French oak to stop strutting about, and let the black fruits of the fleshy palate an opportunity to speak for themselves."
