Armand Heitz: the vineyard runs parallel to the Côte de Nuits, from Gevrey-Chambertin to the Bois de Corton. After half disappearing in the wake of phylloxera, it took two generations of winegrowers working in polycultures to bring about a patient and courageous reconquest. This cuvée comes from a magnificent parcel just above Premeaux-Prissey. Planted in 100% Chardonnay, the parcel boasts a lovely soil, perfectly balanced between pebbles and clay. The balance between soil and grape variety is also evident on the palate, with a tension that I’m particularly fond of in chardonnay wines.
