"The 1896 Riesling is a just off-dry wine picked on un-grafted vines planted in 1896 in the Longuicher Maximiner Herrenberg, and was made using traditional winemaking methods dating back to the early 1900s. It offers a stunning nose made of pear, citrusy and creamy elements, fine herbs, and spices. The wine is hugely deep and incredibly silky yet focused on the palate. Here layers upon layers of fruits, minerals, and spices convey a sense of huge finesse and complexity. The wine is just pure finesse in the long and seemingly never-ending finish. This dry-tasting wine is simply awesome even if it will require a little bit of patience to complete its contours. 2027-2037."

"Tightly wound and compact, this is a very exciting dry Mosel riesling that deftly intertwines warm and cool elements. Stacks of red vineyard peach fruit and an intense spiciness give this a lot of immediate appeal, but the stony structure is still a bit dominant and needs more bottle age to fully resolve. Excellent aging potential. From vines planted in 1896. Drinkable now, but best from 2024."
