"The star of the cellar is the microproduction of 2017 Gigondas Clovis Saurel, a 100% Grenache wine aged in two demi-muids. It was slated to be bottled the week after my June visit. It shows terrific spice notes, hints of menthol and mouth-filling black cherries. Full-bodied, silky and long, the wood is noticeable but discreet, adding length and structure without any noticeable flavor input. It's one of my favorite wines of the vintage."
